About The Project
Part of a masterplan to re-energise the core of Menzieshill, the Community Centre is the heart of a new civic quarter and forms a major role as a community hub with healthcare and education facilities.
Through its centre runs a linear park linking all buildings and encouraging parents and children to walk to school as well as using the spaces for relaxing and socialising. With a new library, community rooms and café, the building supports a wide range of needs across the community to all ages. Larger rooms can also accommodate badminton courts and the Menzieshill Burns night supper!
To maintain the safety of the building in all events, Kilpatrick Blane Services installed the smoke ventilation system. Alongside this they designed and installed controls for automated windows and rooflights for comfort ventilation to maintain great quality indoor spaces. One important aspect during the delivery was co-ordinating cabling to be concealed within the window systems for improved aesthetics and a perfect finish.
Designed by Holmes Miller Architects and delivered by Robertson Construction, the building was nominated for the Scottish Design Award for Public Building of the year.
